Build the essential foundation every firefighter needs. This course introduces core fireground operations and safety practices by combining fundamental knowledge, such as fire behaviour, building construction, and personal safety, with hands-on skills including search and rescue, hose handling, ladder operations, vehicle extrication, and fire suppression techniques.

Learn to safely and confidently drive and operate a wide range of emergency vehicles, including pumps and rescue apparatus. The program covers everything from foundational driving skills to routine maintenance.

Master the essential knowledge and skills required to operate fire pump systems effectively. The program covers pump theory, hydraulics, maintenance, foam operations, drafting, and relay pumping to ensure reliable water delivery during emergencies. Training also prepares operators to manage water supply, determine correct pump pressures, and perform field operations that support safe and effective fire suppression.

Designed to prepare new fire officers to supervise a single company by building core skills in leadership, emergency management, administration, safety, and operational planning. The program focuses on practical duties such as assigning tasks, managing resources, assessing risk, and maintaining professional conduct, helping firefighters transition confidently into their first supervisory role.

This program establishes the standards for firefighters and emergency personnel to become effective instructors. It guides participants from introductory teaching skills through lesson delivery while building competency in adult learning principles, lesson planning, student evaluation, and maintaining a safe, energized training environment.

Build upon the fundamentals of Instructor I by advancing skills in course development, evaluation, and program management. Participants learn to create detailed lesson plans, design and administer assessments, oversee other instructors, manage training resources, maintain records, and coordinate full training programs from start to finish.

Learn to recognize hazmat or WMD incidents, assess risks from a safe distance, and use the Emergency Response Guidebook to guide early actions. Students learn to identify hazards through placards, labels, and container types; understand material behaviour and exposure routes; establish safety zones; make notifications; and initiate basic protective measures.

This training builds upon NFPA 470 HazMat Awareness and focuses on defensive actions at hazardous materials incidents. Responders learn to recognize and assess the scene, apply safety measures, including appropriate PPE and scene control, establish decontamination, and use basic containment tactics.
