Hydrogen sulfide gas is colorless, heavier than air, and extremely toxic. It is formed by the natural decomposition of organic materials in the absence of oxygen. It is encountered in a variety of industrial processes and in the production and refining of petroleum, pulp and paper, metals, etc.
This Energy Safety Canada course covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to protect oneself, and basic rescue techniques and equipment.
Training consists of a combination of classroom lecture and hands on exercises with breathing apparatus and resuscitation techniques. Participants must bring government issued photo identification.
